annual giving campaign

Dear Friends,

One evening, almost 20 years ago, a group of parents gathered in a church, excited by an idea that existed as a longing in each of their hearts. There was no one leader, but rather, a collective of individuals bringing energy, love and thought to a mere possibility.

Like a seed, certain needs must be met for a great potential to awaken. We wanted a Waldorf School to come into being in Lancaster County; and children, a teacher, a welcoming place, countless blessings, and great determination were called upon.

Looking back now, it is wonderful to remember that first tiny bud of a school that began to unfold here, bringing new life to education in the Susquehanna Valley. For those of us who were a part of the early struggles and blessings of those years, it is sometimes impossible to connect the long string of events that led from that pioneer venture to this full-fledged member Waldorf School that we are today.

This school’s existence, here, in this place, at this time, is an event that continues to unfold and grow. It has been brought about by the generosity of so many people; by the trust and faith parents have placed in the school and in their teachers; by the amazing commitment and dedication of the teachers, staff, Board, and parents; but even more so, by some sort of miracle whose source remains hidden from our direct gaze.

Please take a moment to reflect upon the importance Waldorf Education has had in your life, in the community in which you live and in the cultural life of the Susquehanna Valley. This vision can only exist through the generosity of people like you. Please be part of the vision and give with all of your heart.

Gratefully,

Linda Heywood, Pre-Kindergarten Teacher

Salvatore Martino, First Grade Teacher
