Anthroposophia Study Circle

At Whitsun, May 23rd, a new anthroposophical study group has been founded at SWS. Its name is “Anthroposophia Study Circle”. We meet monthly every second Saturday at 3 pm in the Parent-Child room with flexibility around festivals. “First Steps in inner Development” by Rudolf Steiner is our current study. We read the appropriate lecture before hand and come to the meeting with a “gem” to share,   a sentence or a thought from that lecture that spoke to us. After a short summary, given by a member of the group, we spend ample time in Goethean conversation about the lecture and also the “gems”.

Next meetings:

August 14th:         “First Steps in inner Development”, lecture 2: ”The Path”

September 11th:  “First Steps in inner Development”, lecture 3: “First Steps”

October 2nd:        Michaelmas celebration (study to be announced)

SWS Welcomes Wendy Dougherty

On Sunday, May 23, faculty, staff and parents hosted an afternoon tea to welcome Wendy Dougherty as the newest member of our early childhood department.

Wendy will lead the Periwinkle Kindergarten class beginning this September and comes to us with her husband and four children, from the Monadnock, New Hampshire Waldorf School, where she teaches early childhood classes.

With a Masters degree in Waldorf Education and an undergraduate degree in psychology, in addition to her life experiences, and her love for the kindergarten with its artistic and practical work, Wendy brings her whole self to this position with a calm and happy certainty that the Susquehanna Waldorf School is her new ‘home’.
