Corporate Donating

Development Efforts for the Susquehanna Waldorf School

Development efforts at the Susquehanna Waldorf School are coordinated through the Development Coordinator, a Development Committee and a Special Events Committee. Both committees are standing committees of the Board of Trustees. These committees strive to generate a climate in which philanthropic giving of time, energy, and money is welcomed and appreciated, and to foster and coordinate volunteer participation in fundraising and other development activities. Development work is vital for building and maintaining philanthropic support over time, and in supporting outreach endeavors to enhance the school’s mission and profile in the greater community, and to cultivate friends for the school.

The Development Committee’s focus is raising funds and cultivating donors for the school through Annual Giving, Scholarship Fund, Educational Tax Credits and Program Grants. The group is responsible for exploring funding strategies, educating the school community on the importance of giving, and nurturing a philanthropic spirit in the school and greater community. Both the Development and Special Events Committees work with the Development Office in planning for fundraising, networking and soliciting funds. The Development Committee also works with the Board of Trustees to cultivate and solicit donors.

Please call our Development Office to discuss your interest in making a gift to the school or in serving on one of these committees (717) 426-4506, ext. 224.

Annual Giving

The Susquehanna Waldorf School has evolved into a remarkable institution that provides a unique education to children and a source of community to many. This is due in part to growing charitable support from parents, grandparents, alumni families, trustees, friends and foundations. Such generosity supports the school’s mission by providing the resources for program and student needs, faculty purposes, financial aid and community interests. The role of the Annual Fund has been and remains a vital element in the school’s present excellence and future success.

You can be a part of the future growth and progress of the Susquehanna Waldorf School by making a gift through the Annual Giving Campaign. Your participation at any level will be appreciated and will make a difference to the health of the school. Checks made out to the Susquehanna Waldorf School Annual Giving Campaign can be sent to the Development Office at the address below.

Please contact the Development Office at (717) 426-4506 ext. 224 to discuss other forms of charitable giving to the Susquehanna Waldorf School in recognition of its contribution to the cultural life of the surrounding communities.

Educational Improvement Tax Credit

Pennsylvania’s tax credit legislation is having a tremendous impact on schools like The Susquehanna Waldorf School. This pioneering legislation in our state allows corporations to impact the next generation through education. Businesses can send their tax dollars to the government or they can donate them to a scholarship fund—making a real difference in the lives of children seeking a better education.

In 2001, the Pennsylvania legislature approved Act 4, which amends the public school code to provide for the establishment of the Educational Improvement Tax Credit administered by the Department of Community and Economic Development. Act 4 authorizes the award of tax credits to businesses that make contributions of up to $200,000 to scholarship organizations. These scholarship organizations in turn designate funds as tuition assistance to qualified recipient schools like The Susquehanna Waldorf School. This legislation turns corporate tax dollars into scholarship funds that will help give all children the opportunity to choose a quality education.  Please go to www.newpa.org for more information.

We are committed to admitting students and providing them with a quality education without regard to family income. Business donations under the EITC program make this possible.

Businesses can make a difference for children who otherwise would not have this educational opportunity by simply diverting tax dollars. If you would like more information on giving a business tax credit donation to The Susquehanna Waldorf School, please contact the school for more information a 717-426-4506 or by email.
