Tending the Spark, Meeting the Middle School Child by Betty Staley

Middle school is a term describing youngsters in 6th – 8th grade. As they are experiencing puberty earlier, they are maturing in their emotions and thinking later. Popular culture zeroes in to take advantage of them. There are many ways parents and teachers can help them move through this vulnerability gap and prepare for the “civilizing mind.” Betty Staley offers insight and possibilities to strengthen the healthy development of middle schoolers. Her book helps us get through the hard days and celebrate the golden moments as we tend the spark of beauty, truth, and goodness.

Betty’s lecture is open to all SWS parents. Following the talk, SWS will host small group workshops for interested SWS parents. Dates to follow.
