A big THANK YOU to Tesla from the @rainbowrosecenter for bringing "LGBTQIA+ Education: Youth, Transitioning, and Allyship" to our end-of-year faculty meeting on Monday! We learned so much vital information on how to support our LGBTQIA+ students, families, and colleagues. We look forward to more discussions and opportunities for learning to ensure our school is a safe and inclusive place! 🌈🌈🌈

We spent the last school morning of the year honor

We spent the last school morning of the year honoring our departing 8th graders at the End of Year Ceremony. 1st graders spoke about their favorite memories of their 8th-grade buddies and presented each one with a yellow rose. The whole audience of students, staff, and families sang a special Graduation Song and the 8th grade received a standing ovation. We'll miss this fun-loving and creative class! 💚🌀💚

🎶The road is calling as blossoms are falling, We'll miss you friends, It's sad to see you go. The whole has gathered, To sing goodbye to all of you. Farewell! Til we meet again!🎶

We have another end-of-year class trip to share! S

We have another end-of-year class trip to share! SWS 4th graders went camping at French Creek State Park as part of their Local Geography and History block. They visited Hopewell Furnace Historic Site and hiked the Lenape Trail, named after the original people of this region. Students journaled in a quiet pine grove, touched tadpoles, and met their @kimbertonwaldorfschool penpals!

The End of Year class trips strengthen the class community, build resilience, and make real connections to the curriculum. And they're fun! 🏕🌀💚

SWS 8th graders spent 7 days living and learning o

SWS 8th graders spent 7 days living and learning on a 46-foot sailboat in the Chesapeake Bay for their 8th-grade class trip! They learned how to sail, how to maintain and care for a sailboat, and practical skills like navigation, knot tying, and how to use a sextant. They learned invaluable leadership and team-building skills on this adventure! Special stops included Shark Tooth Island, Saint Clements Island, and historic St. Mary's City.

The 8th-grade class trip is a tradition in Waldorf education that honors the years students have spent together and marks their transitions into high school. We sure will miss this class! ⛵️🌀💚

Boat Day!! SWS Kindergarteners made wooden boats a

Boat Day!! SWS Kindergarteners made wooden boats and their parents/caregivers joined them as they floated the boats along the creek for Boat Day, an annual tradition that sends our Kindergarteners off for summer vacation. It's always a joy-filled day! ⛵️🌀💚

Class 3 presented their shelter projects to their

Class 3 presented their shelter projects to their families and peers last week! 3rd-grade shelter projects are a long-standing tradition at SWS. 3rd grade is a "doing" year. They farm, they build a class project (this class built a picnic table!), they build shelters, and much more. All of which help them transition from a young child to an older, more self-sufficient being. Wonderful work class 3! 🛖🏠💚🌀
