Susquehanna Waldorf School

Educator Enrichment Fund

At Susquehanna Waldorf School, our teachers are the heart of our students’ educational journey. To provide the highest quality Waldorf education, our educators must continually grow, learn, and adapt to the evolving needs of children. Professional training and certification are essential and a priority growth initiative for SWS. The SWS Educator Enrichment Fund ensures that 100% of donations go directly toward teacher training, certification, and ongoing development. Your support helps sustain the excellence of our classrooms, enriches the learning experience for every child, and strengthens the future of Waldorf education at SWS. Join us in investing in our teachers, because when they thrive, our students do too.

The Educator Enrichment Fund helps cover the cost of key trainings approved by our Professional Development Committee. If you’d like, you can choose to contribute directly to a specific training included in the fund.

However, it’s important to know that every teacher at SWS engages in professional development, even if their training is not listed here or funded through this campaign. Many take on additional coursework or certification programs independently as part of their commitment to lifelong learning.

Why Teacher Training Matters in Waldorf Education

Rooted in Growth: The Vital Role of Teacher Training in Waldorf Education

At Susquehanna Waldorf School, we believe that learning never stops—and that includes our teachers. Waldorf education is a living, evolving practice that responds to the developmental needs of children at every stage. To guide our students with insight, empathy, and creativity, our teachers must also be lifelong learners.

Waldorf teacher training isn’t just professional development. It’s a deep, ongoing process of cultivating understanding, of child development, curriculum design, the arts, and the unseen but vital rhythms of childhood. This training supports teachers in meeting children with warmth, creativity, and intention in an ever-changing world.

Each year, our faculty engage in renewal courses, therapeutic workshops, and certification programs that enrich their skills and help them meet the unique challenges and gifts each new class brings. These trainings also allow our teachers to integrate sensory processing tools, trauma-informed approaches, and inclusive strategies into their classrooms.

Your support of the Educator Enrichment Fund helps ensure that this essential work continues—and that each SWS student receives a truly vibrant, intentional education.

Inside the Classroom – How Ongoing Training Impacts Our Students

Learning Forward: How Your Support Shapes Our Classrooms

What does teacher training really do for our students? At SWS, the answer is visible every day, in chalkboard drawings that reflect a child’s developmental stage, in storytelling that reaches both heart and intellect, and in classrooms where students feel seen, supported, and inspired.

When a teacher attends a summer renewal course or completes a certification program, they return with more than just knowledge, they return with deeper insight, new tools, and renewed energy to guide their class. For example, after a recent training on sensory accommodations, one teacher adjusted her daily rhythm to better support a child experiencing sensory overwhelm and saw that child flourish as a result.

Ongoing professional development ensures that our faculty can adapt to students’ changing needs with confidence and compassion. Whether it's integrating therapeutic puppetry, advancing early childhood strategies, or refining grade-specific content, training equips teachers to meet the whole child.

By supporting the Educator Enrichment Fund, you're not just investing in teachers—you're directly investing in every child they teach. Thank you for helping us grow a stronger future, together.
