At Susquehanna Waldorf School, Winter Faire is one of our most cherished traditions—a magical transformation of our school into a place of wonder, warmth, and seasonal delight. Each year, parents, faculty, and staff come together to create an experience rooted in simple joys, meaningful traditions, and the magic of community.
Winter Faire is more than a celebration. It is an opportunity to gather, to play, to create, to share a meal, and to experience the season together. Through the Faire, we also extend that spirit of care beyond our school, supporting a meaningful cause in our wider community, while raising essential funds that help sustain the education and experiences we treasure at SWS.

What To Expect At
Winter Faire
Experience the enchantment and joy of Winter Faire, where countless magical activities await. Discover all the delightful offerings that make this event truly special!
Admission is free, and all are welcome! Some activities do require special Winter Faire tickets, which you can purchase ahead of time at our school during the week of November 30, or simply stop by the Welcome Table at Winter Faire to pick them up. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
One of the most anticipated traditions of Winter Faire, our Class Gift Baskets are lovingly created by the families of each class. Each basket is a one-of-a-kind collection, thoughtfully assembled around a special theme and filled with wonderful surprises donated by our generous community.
From memorable experiences to delightful treasures, there’s something for everyone—and bidding is part of the fun! Best of all, every bid helps support Susquehanna Waldorf School and its mission to educate children with purpose, compassion, and joy.
Bid online or in person. Baskets will be available to preview beginning the week of November 30. Come discover your favorite, place a bid, and help make a difference for our school community!
Your child will enter a magical garden full of sparkling lights where they will hear stories from a Winter Fairy, make their very own ornament, hunt for gems, and enjoy a seasonal snack.
Children aged 3-7 are welcome to be dropped off so parents can enjoy all that Winter Faire has to offer.
Each one-hour session is $15. Free for parents volunteering at Winter Faire!

Secret Shoppe gives little ones the special opportunity to shop for gifts all on their own—or with the help of a friendly Secret Shoppe helper. Inside, they’ll find small treasures that may be lovingly handmade by members of our community or thoughtfully chosen and purchased, such as peg dolls, bookmarks, bean bags, felted creations, ribbon wands, and more.
More than simply a place to shop, Secret Shoppe is an opportunity for children to discover the joy of giving. Choosing a special gift for someone they love makes giving feel magical, meaningful, and fun.
Bake Shoppe
The Winter Faire Bake Shoppe is one of the sweetest stops at the Faire. The warm scent of freshly baked cookies, cupcakes, hot cocoa, and other treats fills the air, warms our hearts, and puts everyone in the holiday spirit.
Stone Soup Kitchen
The Stone Soup Kitchen offers steaming bowls of hearty, nourishing soup, lovingly prepared by parents working together—just like the villagers in the beloved story of Stone Soup. Come warm up, share a meal, and enjoy the simple magic of community.
Children delight in wholesome, hands-on crafts and traditional games throughout Winter Faire. Activities may change from year to year, but they share a common spirit: simple pleasures, natural materials, creativity, and joyful play. From making something with their hands to gathering together for a familiar game, these timeless activities invite children to slow down, connect, and enjoy the magic of the season.
Our Vendors Market is a thoughtful collection of local makers, artists, and small businesses selected to reflect the spirit of Winter Faire. Visitors will find beautiful, useful, and handcrafted goods, with an emphasis on artisan work, natural materials, creativity, and quality. It’s a wonderful place to discover unique gifts while supporting the talented people who make them.
Our Early Childhood teachers bring beloved stories to life through enchanting puppet plays. With simple, beautiful puppets, gentle storytelling, and a quiet sense of wonder, these performances leave room for children’s own imaginations to take flight—a hallmark of Waldorf early childhood education.
With their timeless stories and magical atmosphere, these special performances are sure to delight children and grown-ups alike.
Children must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attend free of charge.

Winter Faire is always filled with surprises and little wonders around every corner. Alongside our traditional activities, you may encounter music, wandering friends, and other special delights that make each Faire unique.
Enjoy seasonal music from the SWS Holiday Community Chorus and local musician Corty Byron, and keep your ears open for the sounds of the season throughout the Faire. The entertainment schedule for this year will be announced soon.
And don’t miss Pocket Gnome, a wandering friend with many pockets—each pocket holds a special treasure waiting to be discovered. Children can choose a pocket and discover a little surprise inside. It’s one of those simple, magical moments that makes Winter Faire so memorable.
