Nestled along the verdant banks of the Susquehanna River, Marietta, the home of SWS, is a small town with a big heart. 💚

Steeped in history, Marietta boasts some of the oldest businesses and buildings in the area. Many of the beautifully preserved structures hold incredible stories within their walls - including our own! The SWS school building dates back to 1899 and was originally constructed to serve as the borough’s public school. 🏫

Since Marietta’s founding in 1812, the borough has grown and changed, just as our school has. Today, Marietta is not only home to the Best Private School, but also a growing number of wonderful local businesses, dedicated community members, and an ever-evolving list of community-centered events.

Our Cyber Civics classes are unique, developmentally mindful lessons that helps students become thoughtful digital citizens. Beginning in middle school, students build a foundation in digital competence, media literacy, research skills, and keyboarding, all grounded in human connection, ethics, empathy, and responsibility.

Through hands-on discussions, collaborative projects, and critical reflection, students learn how technology shapes our thinking and relationships—and how to bring balance, awareness, and intention to their online lives.💻

Honoring Life, Love, and Memory - Día de los Muertos ✨💀🌼

At Susquehanna Waldorf School, language learning is also cultural learning, an invitation to understand the traditions, values, and beauty of the people whose language we study.

As part of our Spanish program, students learned about Día de los Muertos, a celebration that is observed in Mexico and other parts of Latin America, which honors the lives of loved ones who have passed. Our school ofrenda serves as a heartfelt expression of remembrance and gratitude, created in the spirit of love and connection that this tradition embodies.

In Waldorf education, language and culture come alive through story, art, song, and shared experience, helping students build empathy, global awareness, and a deeper appreciation for the human spirit that connects us all. 💛🌼💀
