At SWS, learning comes to life both in and out of At SWS, learning comes to life both in and out of the classroom! ๐Ÿš™๐Ÿ“

On a recent field trip to the Reading Museum, our 5th graders experienced a fun review of their recent curriculum, including ancient cultures, North American culture, and botany. Why review notes when you can enjoy hands-on, immersive lessons?๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ”Ž

Getting out of the classroom opens up the world of learning in more ways than you can imagine!

๐Ÿ’ญWhat was your most memorable field trip? Weโ€™d love to hear about it! Share below.๐Ÿ‘‡

Each year, Waldorf schools gather at Kimberton Waldorf School to compete in traditional pentathlon games.

โ€œThe Pentathlon allows students to demonstrate grace, poise, beautiful form, and a level of physical and mental fortitude they may not have had until this year,โ€ said 5th grade teacher Ms. Calabretta.

โ€œI can say our group left everything they had out on the fields and came home stronger for their efforts!โ€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Great job 5th grade!๐Ÿฅ‡

Our Family Hangs are always a treat and a fun way to connect as a community. Thank you to our Board, our admin team, parent and teacher volunteers, and everyone who lent a hand in making our Family Hangs such a special celebration.

Thank you for another incredible year at the school by the river! ๐Ÿž๏ธ

Time in nature is not an extra at SWS. It is an es Time in nature is not an extra at SWS. It is an essential part of childhood. ๐ŸŒฑ From the very beginning in our Early Childhood classrooms, outdoor exploration is woven into the rhythm of every single day.

Our little learners splash in puddles after a spring rain, smell the wildflowers blooming along the river, dig their hands into cool, muddy earth, and discover the world through movement, wonder, and play. ๐Ÿ›๐ŸŒผ In a world where childhood is increasingly spent indoors and on screens, protecting this connection to nature feels more important than ever.

We believe children need this time outside, not occasionally, but daily.

The benefits are profound:

๐Ÿ„ Strengthened fine and gross motor skills
๐Ÿ„ Enhanced social development
๐Ÿ„ Improved emotional regulation
๐Ÿ„ Greater confidence and resilience
๐Ÿ„ A deep appreciation for the earth and their place within it

Childhood belongs outdoors. ๐Ÿ’š
